The Amalgamated Workers Union has condemned a redundancy proposal to lay off more than a dozen Pacific workers by Southern Paprika Limited, a horticultural company specialising in capsicum production.
Southern Paprika, which employs about 70 I-Kiribati in Warkworth, north of Auckland, has held consultations with its employees on this proposal.
A spokesperson for the union, Michael Kyriazopoulos, said SPL was seeking to slash 7 jobs at the glasshouse and a further 6 in the packhouse. Read more »
