With less than three weeks to go until the biggest celebration of reggae music in New Zealand kicks off, Raggamuffin organisers are urging fans to get their accommodation sorted now as Rotorua is filling up fast with stronger ticket sales than in previous years.

Friday night sales are rocketing with massive line-up that includes one of the hottest acts of the moment, Common Kings, plus Tui award winners The Black Seeds, UK dancehall DJ Gappy Ranks, Darky Roots and our very own DJ Sirvere & The Club Kingz. Expect some very special guest MC’s on stage with Sirvere and the Club Kingz as they will be launching the VP Pacific Reggae Vol 1 CD that night at Raggamuffin.

There have been further exciting additions to the DJ line up, with King Kapisi confirmed on the Main Stage on Saturday 2 Feb. King Kapisi is one of the South Pacific’s industry leading multi-talented artists, who will be bringing you his international brand of Djing/Mcing and Dancehall Chatting! Fantastic DJ’s will feature on all stages and VIP zones throughout the day including DJ’s Infared from Christchurch, Maori TV’s Code resident DJ Poroufessor , bFM’s Dubhead, and popular Rotorua DJ Masive.

Due to demand a third VIP zone has been created, the Pacific VIP Tent. Located in the village area, this tent will have a distinctly island feel and have an adjacent Kava Lounge. It will provide a premium view of the Village stage which is packed with island reggae stars including J Boog, Fiji, Three Houses Down and The Green. It will also be open on the Friday night. KING KAPISI

Having played some of the biggest festivals in Europe (Glastonbury 11) and the United States (SXSW 11/12), his charismatic Style of “Rocking Crowds” will be brought to the Good Peoples of Raggamuffin this year!

Effortlessly transitioning between Reggae/Dancehall and Rap, one of the best to ever “Do it”…. King Kaps will “Work the Crowd” from Reggae/Dancehall Classics up to a feverish pitch between acts on the Main Stage on Day Two. Kapisi will also be bringing his online clothing brand “Overstayer Clothing” to Raggamuffin this year…so watch out for his stall Aotearoa, its called “The Plantation Store”…Blessings to each and everyone!!

DJ DUBHEAD

arrived in New Zealand from the U.K. with his family in 1969 and grew up in Maraetai Beach, South of Auckland. He became active as a DJ in 1983 and has played reggae, funk and hip-hop at all manner of events around the country since then. He hosts a weekly show on 95bFM.He hosts a weekly specialist radio show on Auckland’s 95bFM which has broadcast continuously since 1990. The Rhythm Selection airs every Monday night from 9.00 – 11.00PM and can also be heard worldwide as a live audio stream at www.95bfm.co.nz. From 2000 to 2004 he was bFM’s Programme Director and during this time was responsible for securing airplay for countless local artists, particularly those from New Zealand’s reggae and hip-hop underground. Since 2000 he has been an executive producer for eight New Zealand music compilations, including “Dub Combinations Chapter 3”, which won the 2003 bNet New Zealand Music Award for ‘Best Compilation’. He has produced his own music under the name of The Sound Foundation, which has been released here and in Australia and Europe on the Deepgrooves, Kog Transmissions and Stereo Deluxe labels. His writing has been previously published in magazines such as Back 2 Basics, Planet, The Fix and Debate. He currently works for Auckland Student Movement at AUT, is the reggae buyer for boutique record store Beat Merchants (www.beatmerchants.co.nz), holds a DJ residency at Shadows Tavern and is writing a book about the history of Reggae in New Zealand key General, Michael Rose, Collie Buddz, Shaggy, Sean Kingston, Ziggy Marley, Lauryn Hill, Steel Pulse, Eddy Grant, Maxi Priest, Inner Circle, Julian Marley, Renegade Soundwave, Mad Professor, African Head Charge, Ben Harper, Rockers Hi-Fi, Dry & Heavy, Arrested Development, UB40, The New Beat, Ty, Flying Lotus and Soul Jazz Sound System. DJ POROUFESSOR is amping to return to Raggamuffin 2013. Official Host DJ for Maori Television’s CODE he joined the Universal ZULU Nation coordinating Community Hiphop Events teaching Youth to Mix & Scratch. April he heads to DJ in Los Angeles, Las Vegas & New Mexico “Mean Maori Mean”

Sam Hema aka DJ MASIVE is a well known Rotorua DJ, event promoter and vocalist, on the dex for the first time at this years Raggamuffin, dropping Reggae/Soul with classic Hip Hop styles. Having opened for many of Aotearoa’s huge acts – Katchafire/1814/Che Fu/King Kapisi/DJ Sirvere – Masive fronts Rotoruas hottest duo band ‘Stylus’, ready to rock our people of the Pacific!
