Report – By Benny Mawell in Jayapura

West Papua National Committee (KNPB) chairman Yeimo Victor and his two companions, Usman Yogobi and Alius Asso, are still missing, reports Jubi tabloid newspaper in West Papua.

Members of the KNPB were still trying to find out last night the whereabouts of Yeimo.

Yeimo had been reportedly freed by police after being questioned in Abepura on Saturday amid demonstrations by KNPB supporters.

But since Yeimo was released on Saturday afternoon, he had not made contact with other KNPB activists.

“It was after the police secured Abepura that the detainees would be released as they are not needed for further investigation,” Papua Police head of public relations Chief Gede Sumerta Jaya told Jubi.

But the whereabouts of Yeimo and his two colleagues was not known.

KNPB spokesman Wim Medlama told Jubi supporters had been looking for their chairman without success.

“Since yesterday, we have not been able to find him. We are confused,” he said.

Wim said the KNPB would ask the police today about what has happened to him.
