In this issue: Coaching success for Quest Napier Marketing is so challenging The right to lead???? 7 leadership strategies Wanted Business problems Welcome New clients and Geewiz network Coming seminars and workshops Rugby World Cup and sales teams

Quest Napier has been a coaching client for the past year, Ruben & Fiona are great people to work with..They have just won the 2011 Franchise of the year award for the Quest NZ Group…. here is their award release. enjoy a great place to stay iN Napier.

AWARD FOR Napier ACCOMMODATION PROVIDER Local accommodation provider, Quest Napier, is the proud recipient of the Quest New Zealand and Fiji Franchisee Award for 2011 given out at the Quest National conference last Friday. Local franchise directors, Ruben and Fiona Simon were thrilled to take out the award against some stiff competition. “The other two finalists from Carlaw Park in Auckland and Suva, Fiji are both great properties so we knew it would be close” says Mrs Simon. The award comes close on the heels of the notification that Quest Napier has also been nominated as a finalist for the Hospitality Magazine (Australasia) Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence. The New Zealand Regional Property 10 finalists range from boutique and deluxe accommodation venues throughout New Zealand.

Opened in March 2009, Quest Napier Serviced Apartments offer a central city accommodation choice in the heart of Napier and caters to both business and leisure travellers.

Marketing is so Challenging today:

Consider that the last two years have seen a explosion in web based social media choices to promote your business from social media to Grab one websites. Just like any media you have used caution should be applied when using to mkae sure this media is what your customers expect to find your messages communicated. Ask Them!!! see what choices your customers expect to find you, dont just spend or join because everybody else has…. The social media choices are easy now we have had two years experience to develop confidence and messages. But the “Grab one” type web daily offers are the current “hit” or “worry” when you think about the brand message your super discounted offer attracts, or does it? The latest research suggests that “Grab One” type websites deals are attracting sound good loyal customers for health & beauty products and services If this is your segment then go explore!! Lets look at some stats: From the Awareness Social Media Hub USA 750 Million Facebook users, 70% of small business owners use facebook in some format BUT only 11% of consumers will buy an offer only found on Facebook….. 4 Billion things shared on facebook every day…..92% of facebook users are networking daily and 52% use facebook every day…

New comer Foursquare is about 500,000 merchants offerings to buy and President Obama shops there!!! and they had 381,375,000 purchases during the last year.

You Tube gets 48000 videos uploaded every day…. has 10000 Brand partners on the site and downloads in the millions very hour….. You Tube is the future for visual promotion, when NZ broadband services go optic and fast speed this is where the rush will be….

A formula to follow could be: Your website for your full information details Facebook for testimonials and customer comments Twitter for instant news releases and product or service info You Tube for visual messages and mind stimulation Four square for on line sales ideas to copy

Leadership : the challenge for us all today but read this summary of great leadership from the USA

An excerpt from The Right to Lead a great book! by John C. Maxwell

What gives a man or woman the right to lead? It certainly isn’t gained by election or appointment. Having position, title, rank or degrees doesn’t qualify anyone to lead other people. And the ability doesn’t come automatically from age or experience, either.

No, it would be accurate to say that no one can be given the right to lead. The right to lead can only be earned. And that takes time. The Kind of Leader Others Want to Follow

The key to becoming an effective leader is not to focus on making other people follow, but on making yourself the kind of person they want to follow. You must become someone others can trust to take them where they want to go.

As you prepare yourself to become a better leader, use the following guidelines to help you grow:

1.Let go of your ego

The truly great leaders are not in leadership for personal gain. They lead in order to serve other people. Perhaps that is why Lawrence D. Bell remarked, “Show me a man who cannot bother to do little things, and I’ll show you a man who cannot be trusted to do big things.”

2.Become a good follower first

Rare is the effective leader who didn’t learn to become a good follower first. That is why a leadership institution such as the United States Military Academy teaches its officers to become effective followers first – and why West Point has produced more leaders than the Harvard Business School.

3.Build positive relationships

Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. That means it is by nature relational. Today’s generation of leaders seem particularly aware of this because title and position mean so little to them. They know intuitively that people go along with people they get along with.

4.Work with excellence

No one respects and follows mediocrity. Leaders who earn the right to lead give their all to what they do. They bring into play not only their skills and talents, but also great passion and hard work They perform on the highest level of which they are capable.

5.Rely on discipline, not emotion

Leadership is often easy during the good times. It’s when everything seems to be against you – when you’re out of energy, and you don’t want to lead – that you earn your place as a leader. During every season of life, leaders face crucial moments when they must choose between gearing up or giving up To make it through those times, rely on the rock of discipline, not the shifting sand of emotion.

6.Make adding value your goal

When you look at the leaders whose names are revered long after they have finished leading, you find that they were men and women who helped people to live better lives and reach their potential. That is the highest calling of leadership – and its highest value.

7.Give your power away

One of the ironies of leadership is that you become a better leader by sharing whatever power you have, not by saving it all for yourself. You’re meant to be a river, not a reservoir. If you use your power to empower others, your leadership will extend far beyond your grasp.

Today I really enjoy working with business owners to become better leaders.
