Report – By Stanley Simpson.

Papua New Guinea Media Council chief executive officer Nimo Kama has been appointed the new vice president of the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA).

Kama beat Fiji Sun editor Leone Cabenitabua by 11 votes to 5 for the position.

He will replace John Woods of Cook Islands who resigned earlier this year over differences with the PINA board’s stand on the situation in Fiji.

Vanuatu’s Moses Stevens is the PINA president.

The PINA board and secretariat described the voting as a truly democratic process.
