PMN: TSUNAMI RELIEF SUPPORT
AUCKLAND (Pacific Media Network/Pacific Media Watch): Pacific Media Network’s thoughts and prayers are with all our Pacific families affected by the tsunami disaster.
Pacific Media Network (PMN) chief executive Tom Etuata says, “We are showing our support for the relief funds that have been established by the Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF) and Red Cross New Zealand.”
“We are also supporting the people in Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga by broadcasting what’s happening in those places through our interviews and news bulletins on NIU FM and RADIO 531pi”.
Etuata invites all other groups organising fundraising activities or collections to send details through and they will be promoted through the radio stations.
PCF have set up an emergency relief fund and donations to the Samoan Tsunami Relief Fund can be made at any Westpac branch throughout New Zealand.
Foundation chief executive, Meg Poutasi says, “All donations will go to the Samoan government”.
Red Cross New Zealand’s appeal will see donations go to Samoa Red Cross to assist with the disaster response. To donate to this appeal simply visit www.redcross.org.nz
At this early stage PMN are in discussion with community leaders, groups and artists to host a concert fundraiser event.
Fundraising activities led by PMN’s community language programmes are yet to be finalised as well.
